Gnistan's Adeleke Akinyemi is the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for August

Veikkausliiga players selected Gnistan's Adeleke Akinyemi as the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for August.

Akinyemi enjoyed an outstanding August and played a crucial role in Gnistan’s strong performances during the month. The Nigerian striker continued to demonstrate why he is one of the most dangerous forwards in the Veikkausliiga, combining physicality, pace and clinical finishing in the final third. Throughout August, Akinyemi consistently led the line for Gnistan and delivered important goals against HJK and Ilves, helping his side collect valuable points. His ability to create problems for opposition defences and capitalize on scoring opportunities made him one of the standout performers of the month.

Akinyemi has built a successful international career across several European leagues earning a reputation as a hard-working striker with a proven goalscoring record. He combines strength and aerial ability with intelligent movement and the pace to threaten defences both in behind and inside the penalty area.

In all the top Finnish leagues - Veikkausliiga, Kansallinen Liiga, Ykkösliiga, Kansallinen Ykkönen and Ykkönen - the players vote at the end of each month for the league’s Player of the Month. Players are not allowed to vote for someone from their own team. The player who receives the most votes during the month is selected as the Player of the Month.
